PLA@103

Welcome to Phalen Leadership Academies @103, a tuition-free public charter school serving kindergarten through 6th grade scholars on Indianapolis’s Far Eastside. As part of the Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA) network, we are committed to providing a calm, inclusive, and culturally rich environment where every scholar is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

At PLA@103, our teachers use data-driven instruction, small-group learning, and a rigorous, personalized curriculum to ensure that every child receives the support they need to master key academic skills. 

From basketball, soccer, and track to STEM, art, robotics, and other after-school clubs, every scholar has opportunities to learn, lead, and shine. Our Dual Language Program and bilingual educators support Spanish and Haitian Creole families, fostering a welcoming and inclusive community for all.

At PLA@103, our data-driven instruction and small-group learning ensure every scholar receives personalized support that builds academic growth, confidence, and curiosity. Through engaging, hands-on lessons, we prepare students to think critically, work collaboratively, and lead with purpose.

Scholars benefit from 1:1 technology access, free transportation, nutritious meals, and a complimentary summer learning program through Summer Advantage. Families can also take advantage of free job training and career development opportunities through SkilledUS, supporting success for the entire household.

McKinney-Vento Act

The McKinney-Vento Act protects scholars from discrimination based on their lack of a permanent residence. Homeless Scholars are eligible to receive a variety of services including: transportation services, free meals under the school nutrition programs, limited English proficiency class, gifted and talented programs, and special education services based on a scholar’s eligibility. Homeless Scholars will not be denied enrollment based on lack of proof of residency. Please consult the McKinney-Vento Act Liaison if you need assistance.
